About the Event:

Kick Start Space Camp, organized by Nehru Planetarium & Space Development Nexus, is a pioneering program designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience in space sciences and technology for school students aged 10-18. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on workshops to ignite curiosity and foster a passion for space exploration and technology.

The camp invites students to delve into the fascinating world of space sciences, offering theoretical and practical workshops on topics such as rocketry, CubeSats, rovers, drones, and astronomy. Through these workshops, students will learn about the principles and technologies behind space missions, enabling them to understand the complexities of space exploration.

In addition to the workshops, Kick Start Space Camp also includes night sky observation sessions, allowing students to observe celestial objects and learn about the wonders of the universe firsthand. These observation sessions enhance students’ understanding of astronomy and inspire awe and wonder about the cosmos.

Itinerary:

Phase 1: Online Theoretical Workshops (May 14th – 18th) – Microsoft Teams – 04:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Interactive sessions delivered by experts of the fields with Q&A with leading researchers.
  • Daily topics include: Rocketry, CubeSats, Rovers, Drones, and Astronomy
Phase 2 of Kick Start Space Camp takes your space adventure to a whole new level!
  • From May 20th to 24th, prepare to dive deep into practical workshops at the Nehru Planetarium, New Delhi.

Get ready to:

  Master the Art of Drones (Day 6): (10:00 AM to 02:00 PM)
  • Take flight with a crash course in drone technology, safety regulations, and operation
  • Get ready for lift-off as you assemble a drone and receive specifics about the electronics!
  Assemble Your Own CubeSat (Day 7): (10:00 AM to 02:00 PM)
  • Get an insider’s look at CubeSat components and assembly
  • Put your newfound knowledge to the test by building a basic CubeSat model – a hands-on experience that’s out of this world!
Become a Rocket Scientist (Day 8): (10:00 AM to 02:00 PM)
  • Learn the secrets of rocket design in a morning
  • Transform theory into action by building and launching your very own water rockets in the afternoon! There’ll even be a competition to see whose rocket soars the farthest!
Build and Test a Rover (Day 9): (10:00 AM to 02:00 PM)
  • Unleash your inner engineer with an introduction to rover design and components.
  • The fun doesn’t stop there! You’ll get to build and test your own rover’s navigation and control systems.
Explore the Universe Like a Pro (Day 10): (4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
  • Become a stargazing extraordinaire! Learn how to set up and use telescopes and other astronomical instruments.
  • Embark on a celestial adventure with a night sky mapping session and put your skills to the test by identifying planets and stars!
  • Awards presentation for outstanding
  • Free planetarium show for participants and guardians.
  • Night sky observation session.
